For years comprehension strategy instruction was the forefront of our TEKS and our assessments. With the onset of STAAR, along with the newer TEKS that have been in place since 2010, an important shift has occurred - from a focus on comprehension to one that focuses on genre instruction with comprehension embedded. What does this mean for our teachers? Our students? This section will include the latest information from the state and from the district as we make that all-important shift in instruction.
